DN Representative James is head judge for the Manx Grassland Society Silage Competition...

This year the Manx Grassland Society celebrated its 40th anniversary and, for this special occasion, James Collantine was invited to be the Head Judge for their Silage Competition. Seven farms were judged over two days to win categories including “Best Silage Utilisation”, “Best Kept Pit”, “Overall Silage Clamp Winner” and, finally, “Silage Master” – the winner of best clamp silage versus the winner of best round-bale silage.

After a presentation on heifer rearing, which provided many talking points, the top prize of “Silage Master” for the Isle of Man was presented to David Collister of Ballashamrock.
