Supporting Excellence at the Westmorland County Show Annual Silage Competition 2026

At Dugdale Nutrition, supporting British agriculture and the people behind it is at the heart of what we do – which is why we were proud to once again sponsor and support the Westmorland County Show & Agricultural Society’s Annual Silage Competition 2026.

This year’s Silage Supper was a huge success, with an utterly fantastic turnout of over 100 attendees. It was brilliant to see so many farmers, competitors, and industry professionals coming together to celebrate the hard work and dedication that goes into producing top-quality silage.

A real highlight of the evening was the excellent talk delivered by David Miller, one of our Senior Ruminant Specialists. David provided an informative and engaging presentation, sharing valuable insights and raising some great discussion points around silage quality, consistency, and its impact on livestock performance. The room was fully engaged, and it sparked plenty of thoughtful conversation – exactly what events like this are all about.

As part of our involvement, the Dugdale Nutrition team carried out silage sampling for analysis, ensuring competitors received accurate and meaningful feedback on their entries. In total, we analysed just over 80 silage samples, a fantastic effort that reflects the scale and enthusiasm behind the competition. We also provided gilets for the competitors, which were very well received on the night.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our wider team. A huge thank you goes to Michaela, Emily, and Angus from our Ruminant Team, who not only helped on the night but also spent the previous Monday driving the judges around – a vital part of keeping the competition running smoothly. We’d also like to give a special mention to Isabelle and Gemma, who’s hard work helping to gather the samples helped us to process them quickly and efficiently. The teamwork on display was nothing short of brilliant.
Congratulations to this year’s winners and shortlisted competitors!
