Main Purpose...

​

As a Transport Operative you are responsible for the transportation of goods between suppliers and customers. To comply with all rules and regulations involved with drivers hours, working time directive rules and maintain the company’s high standards in regard to customer service. You are not just a HGV drivers but also the ‘face of the business’.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities…
​

Reporting to the Transport Manager, your duties will include but not limited to:

​

  • Undertake Daily Safety Inspections of the vehicle and report any defects following the correct procedure.

  • Adhere to Driving Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive at all times.

  • Deliver finished product and raw material in the most cost effective way possible.

  • Uphold the company’s image and reputation at all times.

  • To help with the companies carbon foot print by driving in a manner that is safe, legal and optimises fuel efficiency.

  • Adhere to Company policy, procedure and legislation including the Company Handbook.

  • Comply with and uphold all aspects of the Company’s health & Safety instructions, requirements and policies.

  • Follow all rules and regulations set out in the Driver Handbooks.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicles and sanitising requirements.

  • Work at all times within the framework and requirements of the Company’s obligations to the Universal Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS)

  • Be prepared to have the occasional night out if required

  • To ensure all paperwork is completed and given to the correct recipient

  • Respect Customers property and site rules

  • Undertake other reasonable duties as required by Senior Management.

  • Have an understanding of the rules set out for delivery drivers as set out by the Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops (TASSC)

  • Work as part of a 4 on 4 off rota

Person Specification/Qualifications…
​
  • Must hold a LGV C+E License (class 1) or LGV C (class 2)

  • Must have a valid and up to date driver Certificate of professional competence (CPC)

  • Be able to work alone and as part of the wider Dugdale Nutrition team  

  • Have a good understanding of computers and tablets

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to high health & safety standards

  • Have good Timekeeping and house keeping

  • Self-motivated and ability to think on your feet

  • Offer a good level of flexibility   

  • Be Familiar with the Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) code of practice for making safe deliveries of animal feed on farms
