Roger Dugdale retires after 60 years with the family business...

On Friday 25th November 2022, we saw Roger Dugdale retire from Dugdale Nutrition after an astounding 60 years with the family business. We enjoyed a buffet lunch in the conference room at Clitheroe and all employees were welcome.

Roger joined the family business in the Spring of 1963 at the age of 18 after studying at the Lancashire College of Agriculture, then based at Winmarleigh. He began his working life in the role of sales specialist before becoming joint Managing Director in the late 70's, along with his cousin Stephen.

Roger took a step back from Management in 2000 and has proudly worked alongside the sixth generation of the family who have led the business during more recent years.

During his 60 years with the business, Roger has played a large part in the growth of the company, witnessing the move from Waterloo Corn Mill in Clitheroe, and the build and development of our main site in 1981, Bellman Mill at Salthill Quarry, Clitheroe.

During his career Roger has also been responsible for purchasing all raw materials for the business, taking over this role from his father John in 1973 and has continued right up until his retirement. This responsibility will now, for the first time in 170 years, fall on someone outside of the Dugdale family; our Operations Director, Matthew Tickle.

Outside of his working life, Roger is a keen walker, bird watcher and Grandpa to two young girls. He also enjoys travelling and hopes to do more of this during his retirement.

We would like to wish Roger a long, happy and healthy retirement. We are sure to see him visiting the mill at Clitheroe on a regular basis and look forward to his assistance with organising the Dugdale Nutrition archives, which contains family and business history, dating back to 1850.
