On Sunday 11th June we attended the LEAF Open Farm Sunday at Taylors Farm in Ormskirk. Open Farm Sunday is one of the farming industry's biggest success stories. Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006, over 1600 farmers across the UK have opened their gates and welcomed over 2.7 million people onto farms for one Sunday each year.
LEAF Open Farm Sunday is a great opportunity for people to learn about where their food comes from and how it is produced. Visitors are able to see farm animals, learn about crop rotation, and even take tractor rides. Many farms also offer educational activities for children, such as nature walks and storytelling.
In addition to being a fun and educational day out, LEAF Open Farm Sunday also helps to raise awareness of the importance of farming. The event helps to connect people with their food and to understand the challenges that farmers face.
The next LEAF Open Farm Sunday will take place on Sunday, 9th June 2024. You can find a list of participating farms on the LEAF Open Farm Sunday website.
